I am strongly committed to investing my time and energy into finding, keeping, and motivating the wonderful, talented people in organizations, and I care a lot about the people I work with and for.  However, I don’t like wasting my time where it isn’t deserved. In my perfect world, companies wouldn’t hire problem people in the first place. Hire slowly I say.

Sometimes, no matter how careful at hiring and managing you are, you hit a point when an employee is a problem, e.g., Not giving good customer service, Having poor attendance or productivity, Giving attitude, etc. When it comes to the problem employees, you have three options:

  1. Rehabilitate
  2. Reassign
  3. Release

You’ll see more from me on these three strategies in the coming weeks.
