Work Drunk

My friend and IT guru, Will of ITS Kelowna recently told me after a particularly long project he closed in the wee hours of the night that he felt “work drunk”.

Have  you ever felt the same way? That “a bit dizzy, tired, unfocused, sore headed” feeling you get after a hard day and night on the job.

This feeling of work drunk seems to come with the territory with entrepreneurs, A Types, and people striving to climb the career ladder (not necessarily mutually exclusive groups) and yet much like when you are drunk, it isn’t the best time to be at work. You aren’t concentrating, you aren’t operating on all cylinders and you aren’t making your best decisions. Sometimes when you are work drunk, the best thing you can do is shut down the computer and take a break, get some sleep, or even get some exercise.  However, even though we know what we should do, taking time off can sometimes be hard to do.

Fortunately, a long weekend to celebrate your country has just arrived to provide you with a wonderful excuse to recuperate from work drunkenness while revisiting the important things that you work so hard for.

July 1st is Canada Day& July 4th is Independence Day for our friends down south

Have a good one whichever you celebrate!
