Ripple effect of terminations part 2

I told you earlier this week about a “survivor” who was affected by the termination of a close colleague.

PS. He has since left his employer. Although there is no way it ever came out in his exit interview, his disillusionment, broken trust and lingering doubt finally got to him.

Moral of the story should be “Don’t do terminations!” Unfortunately, I am too practical and realistic to expect anyone to listen to me on that soapbox. Instead of a moral, I simply encourage you to track voluntary turnover and look for patterns in the year following a firing. I predict you won’t have any trouble finding them!

By the way, if you pop by next week, you will see a company that struck a path on the road less traveled and found it to be far more rewarding than anyone could have imagined.
